Over 20 years ago, CHEM, Inc. (Community Hospitals of Eastern Middlesex) was incorporated by community hospitals in the north of Boston area to investigate and develop shared service programs. Members were interested in offering state of the art clinical programs to patients in their service area. This innovative consortium was the first of its kind and was a leader in the area of shared medical services. Programs developed over the years include the CHEM Center for MRI and CHEM Center for Radiation Oncology.

The CHEM Center for MRI is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing state of the art technology and quality MRI services to area patients since 1989.
The CHEM Center for MRI is committed to providing excellence of images, interpretation and service, and has earned a reputation with our referring physicians and our patients for our clinical accuracy and our patient friendly service. The CHEM Center offers impressive image quality, fast scan imaging and MR Angiography utilizing the latest MRI technology from GE Medical Systems and Hitachi Medical Systems. The Ultra Short Bore Signa Excite 1.5 Tesla magnet, and Open Hitachi Airis II magnet were designed with patient comfort in mind.
The CHEM Center recently completed an upgrade to their high field magnet. The new system, Signa Infinity with Excite, is capable of acquiring diagnostic information significantly faster than other MRI systems. This scanner will reduce the length of the exam for patient comfort without compromising the quality of images obtained.
